Technical Details
Having some experience in touring by bicycle for 14 years Ive done some preparations in order to make my tour easier or to increase the security. Here are some technical details:
To defend myself against dangerous dogs (or gangsters on the motorbike) I fixed two quite sharp lances at the upper tube of my frame and comer flashed it as walking sticks. With one grip I have a dangerous weapon or even a useful part for the construction of my mosquito net.
To make longer distances without any filling possibilities I can fix four bottles at my "Bock". Further 1,5 liters are isolated, just in case if I don`t like a cold shower.
In order of not being seen in the light of the full moon when I`m wild camping I fixed some old tires at my pure white frame. Positive side-effect: Because of the old tubes my bicycle doesn`t look so attractive for thieves!
In order to protect my hands against the permanent vibrations I covered the grips with some isolations of water pipes. These dimmers are also good to protect my fingers against the coldness. To be able to change my sitting position as many times as possible I also montaged my well experienced triathlon steer.
By using official road reflectors at the front- and the backside the car driver which doesn`t pay attention for me must have taken drugs. If this should be nevertheless the case, I hopefully will recognize it just in time to drive into the banquet.
Packing volume
Two waterproof bags in front (for the clothes that shall warm me up), three bags in my back (for tools, stove, shoes) and one bag at the steer with a self-conceptionned and foreign-made (thanks, Ralf!!!) construction for the fixation.
I montaged a double-stand in order to protect my machine against dropping down. I`m also able to fix the steer with a lock, which is also good for keeping away potential thiefs to destroy my origin main lock
